When was the last time you have been to Spain?
I had the good fortune to be part of the Trade Commission’s recent tour to several Spanish universities and language institutes in late March. Prior to that trip, I had visited Bilbao and Santander on several occasions.

What do you enjoy most about Spain?
This is a difficult question because there’s so much I enjoy about Spain: the people, the food, the diversity of the regions, the sense of history, the wine….I should stop here!

What do you think are the advantages of Spain as a destination for American students?
Students can benefit from solid academic programs, welcoming people and an opportunity to be immersed in a country with a rich history.

Could you describe the Study Abroad programs your university has with Spain?
Our university system currently has one language intensive program at the University of Cantabria. We’re currently exploring other opportunities as a result of my recent visit.

How satisfied are, in general, American students going to Spain?
Our students have been very satisfied with their experiences in Spain. Many of them comment that their program in Spain is the highlight of their undergraduate careers.
