Shakespeare and Cervantes: Timeless Commentators on the Human Condition

TotalBank Distinguished Speaker Series - Spanish and Mediterranean Studies Program. Shakespeare and Cervantes - Timeless Commentators on the Human Condition. Friday, April 22, 2016 | 3 PM | Coral Gables Museum  | 285 Aragon Ave, Coral Gables

Join us for an afternoon of conversation, reflection and music as we explore the timeless genius of the two literary giants of the Renaissance.  The works of Shakespeare and Cervantes continue to resonate today, as ongoing popular appeal facilitates new and fresh interpretations of them.  Both writers had the ability to reach deep into the wellsprings of human consciousness, providing a poignant literary response to the human condition and the contrived world of man. They contemplated the very same problems, questions and anxieties that we today grapple with. They show us our limits, they illuminate our hopes, and give us a glimpse of our possibilities. We see ourselves in their splendidly patterned works.

Presented in collaboration with the Coral Gables Museum, British Consulate General, Consulate General of Spain and Centro Cultural Español
