Famous Aurora, Colorado publication now includes Spanish in recreation guide for 1st time.

More than 150,000 households in Aurora will get the winter edition of the Aurora Recreation Guide this week – and for the first time, the publication includes a section in Spanish. The quarterly publication features all kinds of recreational activities for Aurora residents.City officials say this edition will feature a dual-language cover with one side in English and one side in Spanish. There will also be a 20-page section in Spanish focused on youth programs.

The city said the Spanish section is not a full translation of all programs offered in English, but it provides Spanish-speaking parents an opportunity to learn about classes and activities - all taught in English - their children can take.

This comes after Parks, Recreation and Open Space added bilingual staff in its customer service department and allocated a phone line for Spanish-speaking customers last spring. Spanish-speaking parents and caregivers can call a designated Spanish phone line at 303-326-8652 to register and get more information about classes.
