Parent night planned for dual language program in Valparaiso

Valparaiso’s Parkview Elementary is one of five schools in the state of Indiana to receive a grant to implement a Dual Language Program in kindergarten.

This $82,567 grant is under the Indiana Senate Enrolled Act No. 267, which provides funding for schools to pilot a program in the 2015-16 school year. Dual Language Immersion provides opportunities for children to become proficient in two languages by experiencing curriculum in English and a second language.

Research shows that students who participate in Dual Language Immersion Programs develop high levels of proficiency in the second language and English, demonstrate academic performance at or above grade level, and demonstrate positive cross-cultural attitudes and behaviors.
